Accounting Governance and Sustainability

The Master’s in Accounting, Governance and Sustainability (AGS) at the University of Bergamo (LM-77) is a two-year, 120-ECTS program taught entirely in English that trains experts in accounting, corporate governance, risk management, auditing, and sustainability/ESG reporting for international business contexts.

Program focus

• Advanced skills in international accounting, management control, corporate governance, auditing, and sustainable finance.unibg+1

• Strong emphasis on ESG performance measurement, sustainability reporting, and risk management across economic, social, environmental, and governance dimensions.

• International orientation through foreign faculty, mobility programs, internships abroad, and a double-degree agreement with the University of Dundee (Scotland): spend Year 2 in Dundee and earn both the Bergamo MSc in AGS and Dundee’s MSc in Accounting & Finance.

Two curricula

• Accounting for International Business (AIB): for careers in accounting, auditing, control, and business consulting in multinational settings.

• Accounting and Governance for Sustainability (AG4S): for roles in sustainability governance, ESG risk, and sustainability/ESG reporting and strategy.

Career outcomes

Graduates target roles such as:

• CFO / Head of Administration, Finance & Control

• Chartered Accountant / Statutory Auditor (after required internship and state exam)

• Corporate/management consultant (governance, control, reporting, sustainability)

• Sustainability Officer/Manager/Consultant or ESG Specialist

The program also prepares students for PhDs, second-level master’s, and professional qualification paths for commercialisti and revisori legali.

Hold a 3-year bachelor’s degree (Italian or equivalent foreign qualification) that is recognized as suitable for second-cycle study. For foreign degrees: the qualification must be issued by a legally recognized university/post-secondary institution and must allow progression to the next university level in its country

Curricular requirements (must be met first): Path A: Italian bachelor’s in L-18 (Business/Economics & Management) or L-33 (Economics), or equivalent Path B: A different Italian degree plus ≥60 ECTS by the application deadline in: Area 13 (Economics & Statistics): all subjects Area 12 (Law): private, comparative, commercial, economic, labor, constitutional, public, administrative, tax, international, EU, civil/criminal procedure, criminal law, legal philosophy (listed SSDs) Area 01 (Math/CS): mathematical analysis, probability & mathematical statistics, operations research, computer science Area 09 (Engineering): energy & environmental systems, management engineering, information processing systems Credits can be from bachelor’s, master’s, or single courses. Pre-1999 4-year degrees qualify with ≥5 annual exams in matching subjects. English: at least B2 (CEFR); verification method defined by the program (certificate not always required).
