Applied economics and markets

The Applied Economics and Markets programme at the University of Bologna is a 2‑year, fully English‑taught Master’s (LM‑56, Economics) designed to train economists for global careers in both public and private sectors through rigorous theory, quantitative methods, and applied market analysis.

Programme focus

The degree combines:

• Advanced economic theory (micro, macro, industrial, monetary economics).

• Finance and market analysis tools.

• Strong quantitative training in statistics, econometrics, and the programming languages most used in research and industry (e.g. R, Stata, Python‑style workflows).

It emphasises applied work: using data and models to analyse real markets, policies, and institutions.

International dimension:

• Around 79% of students are international or from outside the region.

• Opportunities for internships and mobility with partner universities

• 3‑year bachelor’s (or equivalent) giving access to Master’s in your country.

• Solid background in economics + quantitative methods (micro, macro, stats, econometrics).
