Green Economy and Sustainable Transition
Green Economy and Sustainable Transition
Course Description

Green Economy and Sustainable Transitions explores how economies, businesses, and societies can move toward environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive development models. The course examines key challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, biodiversity loss, pollution, and the transition from fossil-fuel-based systems to renewable and circular economies.

Students analyze the principles of the green economy, sustainable development, circular economy, energy transition, and responsible innovation. The course also considers the role of governments, businesses, financial institutions, and international organizations in designing and implementing effective sustainability policies and strategies.

Through theoretical discussions, practical examples, and case studies, students develop the ability to evaluate the environmental, economic, and social impacts of different transition pathways. Particular attention is given to sustainable business models, green technologies, environmental regulation, ESG considerations, and the measurement of sustainability performance.

By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the main drivers of sustainable transitions, assess sustainability-related opportunities and risks, and propose solutions that support long-term economic growth while reducing environmental impact and promoting social equity.
