Economics with Data Science

The Economics with Data Science program at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale) is a 3-year bachelor’s degree offered by the Department of Economics and Law.

Program overview

This curriculum blends core economics training with modern data science techniques, aiming to give students both a solid grounding in economic theory and the practical skills to work with real-world datasets. You’ll learn how to:

• Understand microeconomics, macroeconomics, and related legal/institutional frameworks

• Apply statistical and computational methods to economic questions

• Use data analysis tools to support decision-making in firms and public institutions

Career orientation

The program is explicitly designed to prepare graduates for roles in:

• Private companies (e.g., business analysis, data-driven strategy, finance-related roles)

• Public administrations and institutions (e.g., policy analysis, economic planning, data units)

It also emphasizes international exposure: beyond traditional lectures, students are expected to spend time abroad through internships or courses with academic partners, which can be valuable for building a profile for roles in finance, consulting, or data-driven business functions.

• You must hold a secondary school diploma (5-year or recognized 4-year high school qualification) or an equivalent foreign qualification deemed suitable.

• Your overall high school GPA must be at least 70%.

• Your math grade must also be at least 70%; the program emphasizes quantitative preparation.

• Your diploma (or any bachelor’s degree, if you already have one) must not be older than 5 years at the time of application.

Age requirement

• You must be at least 18 years old by 31 August 2026 (age of majority in Italy).

• For the 2026/27 intake, enrollment is limited to students born between 2001 and 2008.

Language requirement

• A B2 level of English is mandatory, proven by an officially recognized, online-verifiable certificate.

• Accepted tests and minimum scores include:

  • TOEFL (paper): 50–59

  • TOEFL iBT: 72–94

  • Duolingo: ≥100

  • IELTS: 5.5

  • Pearson PTE: ≥46

  • Oxford Test of English: >110

Additional notes

• All applicants must take the CISIA entrance test, but it is used only to assess initial preparation; it does not block admission, though poor results can lead to additional first-year requirements (OFA – obblighi formativi).
